John Smith - Our Local Author

John Smith lives at Colonsay, Kirton Road, Egmanton. He has written a book 'Violets' as a memoir charting the life of a boy born in the war years to a small tenant farmer on the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border using horses to work the land and hand-milking cows and without mains electricity. This boy fails the 11+ but goes on to become a qualified accountant and a senior consultant with the international firm of Price Waterhouse.
